The Friday before we left for break, we celebrated with a fun holiday party. I may have slightly over planned...but everyone seemed to have a great time! Thank you to everyone who donated items, as well as our two wonderful moms who came in to help run the party. We played a few games, decorated a fun treat, and created greeting cards. I hope you are all resting and having a wonderful break. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone next year!

Yesterday we had another wonderful Read-A-Thon. We had two mystery readers, Mr. Dinsmore and Mr. Melamed. Our mystery readers 'showed' us how to read in a different way. Mr. Dinsmore told an interactive story with a very important lesson at the end. Mr. Melamed read to us a story book with hidden pictures in the illustrations.
We were also able to read to our book buddies, drink some warm hot chocolate, buddy read, listen to stories, and read to ourselves. I think everyone was able to hit their reading goal for the week! Check out the pictures from our fun day of reading! Caution...it may look like we're napping, but we aren't, we are actually reading :) Wow! I was very impressed with the amount of time and effort the students put into reading and creating the sandwich book report. All of the projects have been presented, and students were able to put them in the library to be on display to the whole school. Great job 4th graders!
Every Friday, we have 'book buddies' with Mrs. Scott's 1st grade classroom. During this time, the 4th graders read with the 1st graders or help them complete projects. It is so fun to see the 4th graders interacting with the younger kids. Last week, we helped our 1st grade friends make a snowflake, and then spent the rest of the time reading holiday books. I'm so proud of my 4th graders for going to the library each week and picking out a special book for their book buddy. Take a look at the pictures from last Friday.
