For the new year, we worked hard to write S.M.A.R.T. goals for math, reading, and a personal goal. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is a goal that is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. We also came up with strategies to help us reach that goal. Check out our New Year Selfies and S.M.A.R.T. Goals!

Please see below what we are learning about this week in class:
Spelling: We are taking the developmental spelling test this week. Groups may change, so stay tuned next week. Reading: This week in reading, we are focusing on immigration and making inferences. We will be reading both a non-fiction piece about European Immigration and a realistic fiction piece about a girl's journey to America. Our skill is for students to work on drawing conclusions, or inferences, based on prior knowledge and what they read. Writing: Goals are very important. This week we will be writing goals in different subject areas. We will use the SMART goal format. Social Studies: In Social Studies, we will be studying the SE region. If you have any pictures or postcards, please send them in with your child. Math: We are moving on to division. Students should continue to practice basic math facts until mastery is met. Next week I will send more information home about the Science Fair. Also, conference sign-ups with be available on signupgenius.com by the end of the week. Have a wonderful day! |
